Having lived in Big Bear since 1978, I have seen our Parks and Recreation opportunities change drastically. I taught swimming lessons in the previous Meadow Park pool; my children played Little League Baseball at Meadow Park; they played soccer at North Shore Elementary School; they earned their "B's" learning to snow ski. In addition to wanting our community to have a broad range of recreational opportunities, my main focus has been to provide a place for our community to learn to swim that is safe and fun. The summer of 2008 is the first since 1992 that our Park District will have its own pool in operation; I am hopeful this small pool will be just the beginning of more to come. I was originally appointed to the BBVPR Commission to replace Roger Beck in March, 2002. I was re-appointed to a term that lasts until January, 31, 2010. I was Vice Chair 2006-'07, and Chair 2007-'08.
