The Big Bear Sports Ranch was founded in 1971 and has been offering overnight camp opportunities for aspiring young athletes ever since. Over 28,000 kids have attended various activities at the Ranch. Facilities include a 300’ X 660’ athletic field used for soccer, golf, disc golf, flag football, and various other sporting activities, a regulation size roller hockey rink, two outdoor basketball courts, nine tennis courts, climbing wall, commercial kitchen, dorms for housing, showers and laundry rooms, and 45’ X 17’ outdoor pool.

The opportunity to purchase the property came about as a result of District staff researching possible park property specifically in the east end of the Big Bear Valley. Upon discovering this nearly 14 acre facility, the District began pursuing funding options with the Special Districts Department. The District further plans to contract with current owner/operator to continue summer camp operations as a source of revenue to offset maintenance and operations costs should the property be acquired.
